The price of a first class stamp has risen to 95p, a 10p increase which Royal Mail hopes will cover delivery costs as letter sending decreases.
The price of a second class stamp is now 68 pence – a more modest 2p increase.
The UK postal service Royal Mail has claimed that the pandemic caused a 20% decrease in letters being sent, and that their costs have increased due to an increasing number of addresses being served.
This price increase was announced on 4th March and takes effect on the 4th of April, 2022. The increase to the first class stamp is 11.7%, while the second class stamp increase is only 3%.
