Royal Mail is again increasing the price of a stamp – first class is jumping a whopping 9p to 85 pence as of December 1st 2020.
The price of a second class stamp is also up – but only by 1 pence to 66p.
Royal Mail, operators of the postal service, blame much of the increase on effects of the covid pandemic which saw a sharp fall in the volume of post.
They said: “We have considered any pricing changes very carefully and in doing so have sought to minimise any impact on our customers. These changes are necessary to help ensure the sustainability of the one-price-goes-anywhere universal service.”
The price of a stamp last increased in March 2020 when 1st class rose to 76p, and 2nd class to 65p.
